Bastion Routing Types
Hard1.16+Also known as: Bastion Types, Bastion ID, Housing Stables Treasure Bridge
Identify and navigate the four bastion remnant types (housing, stables, treasure, bridge) to optimize gold collection and looting speed. Each type has different layouts, gold positions, and danger levels.
How It Works
Bastion remnants come in four structural variants, each with unique layouts and loot distributions:
Treasure Bastion: The best for speedrunning. Contains a central treasure room with a large number of gold blocks and valuable chest loot. The gold is concentrated and easy to mine.
Bridge Bastion: Features a long bridge spanning a lava pool. Gold blocks are found along the bridge and in side rooms. Moderate difficulty with good loot potential.
Housing Bastion: A multi-level residential structure with gold scattered throughout. Contains many piglins and hoglins, making navigation more dangerous.
Stables Bastion: Contains hoglin stables with fewer gold blocks than other types. Generally the worst bastion type for speedrunning because it has less gold and more hostile mobs.
Step-by-Step Execution
Upon arriving at a bastion, quickly identify the type by its structural features.
Treasure: Look for a large central room with a floor of gold blocks and a trapped chest on a bridge.
Bridge: Look for a long bridge over lava with rooms on either side.
Housing: Look for a multi-story building with many rooms and corridors.
Stables: Look for large open areas with hoglin pens and scattered loot.
Navigate directly to the gold block locations for your bastion type.
Mine the gold blocks, barter with nearby piglins, and exit.
For treasure bastions, consider looting the trapped chest for diamonds and ancient debris.
Tips
- +Learn to identify bastion types within 3 seconds of arriving to avoid wasting time exploring
- +Treasure bastions are worth spending extra time on due to concentrated gold and chest loot
- +In stables bastions, kill or distract hoglins first since they are aggressive and deal heavy damage
- +Bridge bastions have gold blocks visible from the bridge, making them quick to assess and loot
Common Mistakes
- -Not recognizing the bastion type and wandering through the structure inefficiently
- -Opening the trapped chest in a treasure bastion without neutralizing nearby piglins first
- -Getting killed by hoglins in housing or stables bastions
- -Spending too long in a stables bastion when it has the least gold of all types
