One Cycle Dragon Fight
Medium1.0+Also known as: One Cycle, 1 Cycle, Single Perch Kill
Kill the Ender Dragon during its first full perching cycle using beds. Less precise than zero cycle but more forgiving, this method kills the dragon in one perch without needing to destroy end crystals first.
How It Works
After the dragon completes its initial flyover, it will perch on the bedrock fountain. During a full perch, the dragon stays on the fountain for several seconds, giving you time to place and detonate multiple beds.
Unlike zero cycle, one cycle does not require catching the dragon on its very first approach. Instead, you wait for the dragon to fully land on the fountain and begin its breath attack. This gives a wider timing window but is slightly slower overall.
With 5 to 7 beds and proper positioning, you deal enough damage during a single perch to kill the dragon. The key difference from zero cycle is that you are reacting to the dragon's settled position rather than predicting its approach.
Step-by-Step Execution
Enter The End with 7 to 10 beds and plenty of food.
Sprint to the bedrock fountain at the center of the end island.
Wait for the dragon to begin its perching sequence on the fountain.
Once the dragon has fully landed and is stationary, position yourself on the opposite side from its head.
Place a bed on the fountain and detonate it by right-clicking.
Rapidly place and detonate additional beds. Use the gap between explosions to eat food.
5 to 7 beds typically kill the dragon during a single perch.
If the dragon survives and flies away, wait for it to perch again and finish with remaining beds.
Tips
- +One cycle is more consistent than zero cycle and a good stepping stone for learning the harder technique
- +Position yourself so the bedrock fountain blocks some of the explosion damage
- +Bring 10 beds as insurance in case some explosions miss or you need a second perch attempt
- +End crystals may heal the dragon between your bed explosions if you are too slow, so detonate quickly
Common Mistakes
- -Waiting too long and letting end crystals heal the dragon between explosions
- -Standing on the wrong side of the fountain where explosions cannot reach the dragon
- -Running out of beds because you brought too few
- -Panicking and placing beds erratically instead of methodically
