Zero Cycle Dragon Fight
Expert1.0+Also known as: Zero Cycle, 0 Cycle, Instant Dragon Kill
Kill the Ender Dragon during its very first approach to the bedrock fountain (cycle zero) using precisely timed bed explosions. This is the fastest possible dragon kill, completing the fight in under 15 seconds.
How It Works
When you enter The End, the dragon begins a scripted sequence: it flies in from the distance, circles the obsidian pillars, and then perches on the bedrock fountain for the first time. This first perch is cycle zero.
Beds explode when you try to sleep in The End or Nether. The explosion deals significant damage and can hit the dragon while it is perching. By placing and detonating 4 to 6 beds rapidly on the bedrock fountain, you deal enough cumulative damage to kill the dragon before it flies away.
The timing is extremely tight. You need to place the first bed just before the dragon arrives at the fountain, then rapidly place and detonate additional beds while managing your own health (the explosions damage you too).
Step-by-Step Execution
Enter The End with at least 7 beds and food in your hotbar.
Immediately sprint toward the bedrock fountain in the center of the island.
Position yourself on the far side of the fountain (opposite from where the dragon approaches).
Watch the dragon's flight pattern. It will circle and then begin descending toward the fountain.
As the dragon starts its perching descent, place a bed on top of the bedrock fountain.
Right-click the bed to detonate it just as the dragon's head reaches the fountain.
Immediately place another bed and detonate. Repeat rapidly.
4 to 6 bed explosions will kill the dragon. Eat food between explosions to survive the self-damage.
Tips
- +Place a block (obsidian or end stone) between you and the bed to reduce self-damage from the explosion
- +Practice the timing in creative mode by switching to survival in The End
- +The dragon's perch approach angle varies. Learn to read its flight path quickly
- +Having beds in sequential hotbar slots allows faster placement
Common Mistakes
- -Detonating too early before the dragon is in range of the explosion
- -Dying to self-damage from bed explosions because you forgot to eat or shield
- -Not sprinting to the fountain fast enough, missing the first perch window
- -Placing beds in positions where the explosion does not reach the dragon
