Rules
- Complete half of the advancements
- Time ends when the notification for the last advancement you need appears
- At the end, scroll through the advancements list to show you have enough; this part doesn't count toward your time
- Runs are split by seed type: RSG, SSG, RS and SS (random or set seed, glitchless or not)
- Difficulty, F3 use and mods (Vanilla, Modded or OptiFine) are recorded with every run
- Random seed runs leave the seed box empty, in Atum's config or on the Create New World screen
- Set seed runs type a seed, and on 1.16 and later the Recreate button isn't allowed
Route / Splits
World creation
Random seed runs leave the seed box empty and set seed runs type one. With Atum, the seed goes in its config instead of the Create New World screen.
Choose your advancements
The rules ask for half of the advancements, not particular ones, so your route is the half you can finish fastest on your seed.
Keep count
The advancements menu pauses the game, but on versions from 1.7.2 to 1.21.5 opening it can let the game run on for a moment, and that time is added to your run.
Last advancement
Time stops on the notification for the advancement that takes you to half.
Proof
Scroll through the advancements list, show the F3 screen before you leave the world and, for random seed, run /seed. None of this is timed.

Tips
- ▸Mark the run as F3 if you used the F3 screen or any F3 hotkey during it, including F3+Esc and F3+B hitboxes
- ▸If you play with SpeedRunIGT, its time is used as your in-game time, as long as you submit all three decimals
- ▸Loading screens and pause menus don't count toward in-game time
- ▸Set seed runs are far faster on this board: the SSG median is less than half the RSG median
Which 40 advancements count
Half% ends at exactly 40 advancements, half of the 80 in the list the Java rulebook uses for All Advancements on 1.16 (rule 4.6.1). Any 40 from that list count, and no single advancement is required.
The time stops on the chat notification for the 40th one. Random seed runs are timed from the moment the world loads and set seed runs from the first input.
Proof for a Half% run
Rule 4.1.3 asks the run to show the 40 advancements in at least one of these ways:
- ▸The advancement file from the world, submitted with the run
- ▸The world files
- ▸An advancement tracker on screen that shows the count
- ▸SpeedRunIGT set to the right category, so the timer stops by itself
